It’s a set of attributes that we are here to be. If you could earn money doing anything, what would it be? When we’re asked this question as a child, we answer based on what we would love to do. As we get older, we tend to base our answer on more practical reasons, such as what will pay the bills, or a job we are already qualified to do. What we love to do becomes more diluted, and maybe even lost all together.
For those of us who weren’t born knowing what our dream career or our purpose is (myself included), or simply got lost along the way, there are some brilliant career aptitude tests that we can use to help us out. I love taking these kinds of tests because you come away with information about yourself and potential careers to explore. You’ll also likely get some information on career or business options that you hadn't even thought of before.
Coming from a recruitment background, I used several career aptitude tests while in my corporate career so you may have taken them as well, but there are several others you probably don’t know about (and a really fun one as well!) that are more geared towards your passions, personality, and what is truly important to you in life. 1. MAPP
This career aptitude test is super popular and is perfect if you’re feeling burned out or are unsatisfied in your current job. The MAPP tells you what you love to do, and what you don’t love to do. 3. Holland Code Career Test
This free career aptitude test is based on personality. This test measures your interest level in the 6 categories of careers, as described by Dr. John Holland in his RIASEC model. You'll learn your primary career interest area and what it says about you . You'll also learn how you scored for each of the other 5 interest areas. Finally, you'll see a list of possible careers for you, based on your top interest area. Yay!

4. 16 Personalities
I love this one because it gives you extensive insight into who you are as a person. It's more of a personality test, but when going through a career change, or thinking of starting your own business, it’s really important to know about who you are as a person and why you do the things you do. A personality test can give you an indication of which careers match your personality type and which careers you may have an aptitude for. This one starts with Myers-Briggs dichotomies and adds archetypes from Jungian theory as well as some from the Big Five. There is a high test accuracy and you’ll come away with your personality type out of 16. It takes about 10 minutes.

5. My Next Move
This career aptitude test will help you find out what your interests are, what you like to do, and how they relate to the work world. Unlike the other tests, this one asks you how to rate how much you’d enjoy performing specific work tasks like “managing a retail store,” to “helping people with personal problems” and “buying and selling stocks and bonds.” This one is 60 questions long.
